From
south/ southwest (lower Hudson Valley, Northern New Jersey and
New York City): from the NYS Thruway (exit 16) or the Palisades
Parkway/Rt. 6 (exit 18), take Route 17 (I86) west to exit 123 (Rt. 17M west toward
Middletown); travel about 3 miles ahead; your third stop light
is a four way intersection — look for the big Soons sign
(and our U-Pick orchard trees on the hill) on your right —
take a left at this light; Soons is 1.5 blocks ahead on your left. (To go to U-Pick first, take a right)
From
the northeast (Newburgh NY/CT) or southwest (PA/NJ):
take Interstate 84 and exit at # 3E; follow Rt. 17M east for approximately
1 mile, bear right at the top of the hill at the antiques place
in the big red barn, head down the hill to the traffic light-
make this sharp right. (If
you miss the bear right off 17M, just make the next right and
go two blocks instead of one.) Soons
is the next left ahead 200 feet - watch for our signs.
From
the northwest (Catskills, upstate NY): take Rt. 17 (I86) east/south
to I-84 west (exit 121W). Then take exit 3E onto 17M; follow directions
above (from northeast).
On
public transit: Shortline runs several express busses a day
between Port Authority in NYC and Middletown NY; they take about an hour and a half. (You should note that walking between the U-Pick orchard and the main store is do-able, but not really great, especially when you're toting a bunch of apples! grab a ride with a fellow picker if you can!)
Metro-North/NJ Transit runs
trains between Hoboken NJ (and now Penn Station through the Secaucus
Transfer) and Middletown NY. Trains take an hour-40 to two hours. Full schedules are here; click on Main Line/Bergen Line. NOTE hurricane Irene damaged this railline significantly - please check the MTA site for the latest!
The bus is more expensive but the express is faster and offers more service (schedule). (The Shortline bus also stops at Woodbury Commons outlet mall so you can plan a whole day of shopping!) Soons is a short cab ride (about 10-12 minutes) from the
bus or train station. Syndicated taxi (845-343-7777) is adjacent to the bus station; another taxi service is Robin's 845-343-5555.
